You can now add any contact property including custom contact properties into any text message you're sending via Inbound SMS by inserting the HubSpot internal property name into the text message in braces (or squiggly brackets ie. {}). eg. Hi {firstname}, welcome to Inbound Addons.
If you're not sure where to get the HubSpot internal property name, click here for a HubSpot knowledge base article on the topic.
Dates are a special case
If you need to send a date as one of the personalisation properties and the contact property in HubSpot is a type of "Date picker", you need to add _Unix to the internal property name. eg. if you have a property that is a Date picker property and it's internal property name is event_date, then in the text message you'll need to insert {event_date_Unix}. This is because HubSpot sends Date picker fields to our system in Unix timestamp format which is a series of numbers and our system needs to know whether you want us to send the series of numbers, or convert them into the actual date. Please note that if you have dates in properties that are just text type properties, you don't have to add the _Unix to the property name, as our system will see that it is text and send it through as it appears in your system. An example of how you might use this is Hi {firstname}, we can't wait to see you at our Inbound Marketing event on {event_date_Unix}
We'd love to hear how you're using personalisation in your text messages, so let us know in the comments below or email us at support@inboundaddons.com.
